Part I — Hoofdstuk (principle)
Bring the guilds back. Re-introduce them in the West. Voluntary. You may belong to more than one. Waiters, cooks, bakers, smiths, artists, ice-cream makers, pastry, carpenters, butchers, stonemasons, mechanics, electricians, hairdressers, athletes, academics, Freemasonry in its craft form, computer nerds, app specialists, farmers, fishers, livestock, transporters, outdoor. The list is open.
Each guild has a place. Often an empty or still-living church, or another civic hall. Meet at least three times a week. Lessons in the trade. Leisure in the same breath. Friday night is the guild dinner, cooked by the cooks’ guild and the guilds that belong with it. That dinner is an exhibition. Other guilds visit. Knowledge passes the old way: look, smell, copy, ask, stay seated.
Membership is entirely optional. The only duty if you join: the shared Sunday meal, and you always have a plus-one. The rest you arrange yourself. Three days minimum. The same guild three times, or three different ones. Who only wants to cook, learns to cook. In eight years you can master a trade if you put one evening a week into it. Combine pastry or butchery and it costs one evening per trade. Only new knowledge. Getting better. Recognised worldwide inside the network.
What the guild does with this. Start with one hall and a Sunday table. Do not found a national bureau on day one.
